Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Paws And Pine collects when you visit pawsandpine.shop or order a blanket, hoodie or gift from us, why we need it, who else touches it, how long we hold on to it and what you can ask us to do with it. The store is run by Paws And Pine, 760 N 7th St Apt 5304, San Jose, CA 95112, US. If anything here is unclear, write to [email protected] and a real person will answer within 24 hours on business days.

We have tried to write this the way we would explain it across a campfire: plainly, without hiding anything in the small print. A custom pet blanket needs a little more personal detail than most purchases, because it starts with a picture of an animal you love, so we spend extra time below on how pet photos are handled.

Before the trail: privacy at a glance

  • We collect what it takes to make, ship and support your order: your name, email, addresses, order details and anything you type into the personalisation fields.
  • For custom items you give us a share link to your pet photo, not an uploaded file. We fetch the photo, print it, and delete our copy and the link 30 days after delivery.
  • No analytics, advertising tags or tracking pixels are installed on this store.
  • We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
  • Card or wallet details are entered with the payment provider shown at checkout, not stored on our server.
  • You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time by emailing [email protected].

1. What we collect and where it comes from

Details you type in yourself

When you check out, WooCommerce asks for your name, email address, billing address and shipping address. If you send a gift straight to a friend in Canada, Australia or New Zealand, we also hold their name and delivery address, which is why we ask you to only enter a recipient’s details when you know they would be happy to receive a parcel. If you create an account under My Account, we store your login email, a securely hashed password and your past orders so you can see them later.

On personalised products the order also carries what you put in the built-in fields on the product page: your pet’s name (up to 14 characters, shown in the live preview), the photo link, and the optional second line or pose choice. If Juniper the golden retriever is getting her name on a sherpa throw, “Juniper” and the link to her photo become part of the order record.

What you send us by email

Support happens by email only. If you write to us about a hoodie size, a typo you spotted or a memorial blanket for a pet who has passed, we keep that conversation and anything you attach, so we can follow up without asking you to repeat yourself.

Technical information the site needs to work

Like any website, our server and Cloudflare, the network that sits in front of it, receive basic connection details when you load a page: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This information is used to deliver pages quickly, block abusive traffic and keep the store online. It is not combined into a marketing profile of you.

Payment information

Payment details are entered with the payment provider shown at checkout once it is connected. The provider tells us whether a payment went through and gives us a transaction reference. We never see or store a full card number.

2. Pet photos: a closer look

Because photo blankets and photo hoodies are printed exactly as you send them, with no proof step in between, the photo matters, and so does how we look after it.

  1. You share a link, not a file. There is no upload button on our product pages. You paste a share link that anyone can open, for example a Google Photos album set to “anyone with the link”, an iCloud shared link or a Dropbox link.
  2. We open it to fetch the image for your order. The photo is used only to produce the item you bought. We do not post it, add it to a gallery, use it in ads or show it to other customers.
  3. We delete it 30 days after delivery. Our working copy of the image and the link stored with the order are removed 30 days after your parcel is delivered. The 30 days leave room for a return or exchange inside our 60-day window to be handled without asking you for the photo again in most cases.
  4. You stay in control of the original. The photo stays in your own Google, Apple or Dropbox account. Once your order arrives you can switch the share link off whenever you like.

If you would like your photo removed sooner, for example right after the item is delivered, email us with your order number and we will do it. If an exchange or reprint is still open on that order, we will tell you first, because we would need the photo again to finish it.

Photos sometimes show more than a pet: a face in the background, a house number, a car plate. Please crop or choose a different picture if you would rather those details did not travel with your order. For memorial blankets we treat old photos with the same care; we know they are often the only ones left.

3. How we use your information

What each kind of information is used for
InformationWhy we use itWhat happens without it
Name and shipping addressTo address your parcel to the right door in the US, Canada, Australia or New ZealandWe cannot deliver the order
Email addressOrder confirmation, status updates, answers to your questions, the free return label when you send something backYou would not hear from us about your order
Billing addressPayment checks by the provider and fraud preventionCheckout cannot complete
Pet name, photo link, second line or posePrinting the personalised item exactly as you set itA custom item cannot be made
Order historyReturns, exchanges, refunds and store credit, plus our own bookkeepingWe could not process a return or answer “where is my order?”
Connection data (IP, browser)Security, spam and bot blocking, keeping the site fastThe site would be easier to attack

We do not use your information to build advertising audiences, and we do not make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects. If we ever start an email newsletter, it will go only to people who ask for it, and every issue will carry an unsubscribe link.

4. Who else handles your information

We keep the list short on purpose. The services below receive only what they need to do their part:

  • Our web server, running WordPress and WooCommerce. The store, your orders and account data live in the store’s own database on our server. LiteSpeed caching on that server stores copies of public pages, such as collection and product pages, so they load faster. It does not cache your cart, checkout or account pages.
  • Cloudflare. Cloudflare acts as the content delivery network and security layer in front of the site. It passes traffic through, filters out attacks and bots, and can set a short-lived security cookie for that purpose.
  • The payment provider at checkout. Once a payment provider is connected, it processes your payment under its own privacy policy. The options available are shown at checkout; see Payment Methods.
  • The services that produce and deliver your order. The production side receives the design details and, for custom items, your photo and pet name. The delivery service receives the recipient’s name and shipping address.
  • Our email service. Messages to and from [email protected] pass through our email provider.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to stop fraud, or to protect our customers or the store. If the store were ever sold or merged, customer records would move with it under the same promises made here. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

5. Cookies, and what is not here

The cookies on pawsandpine.shop are the practical kind. WooCommerce uses cookies to remember what is in your cart, keep you signed in to your account and carry your session through checkout. Cloudflare may set a security cookie to tell real visitors from bots. Without these the cart would empty itself every time you clicked to a new page.

What you will not find: no analytics scripts, no advertising tags, no social media pixels and no third-party retargeting. Nobody follows you around the web with an advert because you looked at a cabin campfire throw here. If we ever add a tool like that, we will update this page first and, where the law requires, ask for your consent before it runs.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the essential ones means the cart and checkout will not work, but browsing the shop and reading our policies will.

6. How long we keep things

Retention periods by type of record
RecordHow long we keep it
Pet photo copy and photo linkDeleted 30 days after delivery, or sooner if you ask
Pet name and personalisation text on the orderKept with the order record, because it is part of what you bought
Orders, invoices and refund recordsAs long as tax and accounting rules require
Support emailsAs long as they are useful to resolve your request and any return linked to it
Customer accountUntil you ask us to close it
Store credit balanceKept with your account or email, because store credit never expires
Server and security logsShort rolling periods, then overwritten

When something is no longer needed, we delete it or strip out anything that identifies you.

7. Keeping your information safe

Every page on the store loads over encrypted HTTPS. Cloudflare filters malicious traffic before it reaches our server, and access to order data is limited to the people who need it to make and support your order. Payment details stay with the payment provider. No system is perfect, so if a breach ever affects your personal information we will tell you as the law requires and explain what we are doing about it.

You can help too: use a unique password for your account, and switch off photo share links once your order has arrived.

8. Your rights and how to use them

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you and send you a copy;
  • correct anything that is wrong, such as an old address;
  • delete your information, including your pet photo before the 30 days are up, unless we must keep an order record for legal or accounting reasons;
  • close your account;
  • stop any use you have consented to, such as a future newsletter.

California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know, delete and correct, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right not to be treated differently for using these rights. Because we do not sell or share personal information for advertising, there is nothing to opt out of today, but you are welcome to ask us to confirm that. Customers in Canada, Australia and New Zealand have similar access and correction rights under their own privacy laws, and we honour them in the same way.

To make a request, email [email protected] from the address you used to order, with the subject “Privacy request”. We may ask a simple question to confirm it is you, such as your order number, so that we never hand one person’s details to another. We acknowledge requests within 24 hours on business days and complete them within the time the law allows.

9. A few common situations

“I sent the wrong photo link.”

Email us within 24 hours of ordering, the window described on Cancel or Change an Order. We will swap the link and delete the old one from the order.

“I ordered a gift for my sister in Australia.”

Her name and address are used only to deliver that parcel. We do not email her, add her to any list or contact her unless there is a delivery problem we cannot solve with you.

“Our cat Pepper’s blanket arrived. Can you delete her photo now?”

Yes. Reply to your order email or write to us with the order number and we will remove the photo and link, then confirm by email.

“I want my account closed.”

Tell us and we will close it. Order records we must keep for accounting stay in our books, but they are no longer tied to a login, and any unused store credit is noted so you do not lose it.

10. Children

Paws And Pine is meant for adults buying for themselves, their pets and their friends. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us personal details, contact us and we will delete them.

11. Where information is processed

Paws And Pine is based in California, and our orders ship from the USA. Our server, Cloudflare and the payment provider may process data in the United States and in other countries as part of delivering their service. If you order from Canada, Australia or New Zealand, your information will therefore be handled outside your own country, with the protections described on this page.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, for example by adding a new tool or changing how long photos are kept, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect. Significant changes affecting existing customers will also be explained by email.
